Misano MotoGP: Serious flooding ends Misano first day

1 of 1

Misano’s first day of MotoGP action in 14 years ended in disaster with all remaining Friday practice sessions abandoned due to serious flooding.

Torrential rain has forced MotoGP bosses to cancel the rest of the opening day’s action, with just one session completed for the 125, 250 and MotoGP classes.

Some sections of the Misano circuit are under water and several garages have been flooded.

Heavy overnight rain and thunderstorms continued this morning, with the MotoGP session topped by Marco Melandri at times affected by atrocious conditions.

The poor weather appeared to have abated with the 250 session going ahead as planned, but then a further torrential downpour has flooded parts of the circuit and paddock, with serious problems at the final corner.

TV cameras caught one circuit official wading through water up to his chest.

Organisers are currently working on a revised schedule for tomorrow’s action.
