Valentino Rossi has gone fastest in the second free practice session for the Catalunya GP, with a time of 1:42.837 on the Camel Yamaha.

The reigning champion demoted the leader of the first session, Kenny Roberts, to second on the time sheet as the American couldn’t improve on his earlier time. Dani Pedrosa remains third fastest on the Repsol Honda, but the biggest improvement was Chris Vermeulen who moved to fourth quickest for Rizla Suzuki. Britain’s James Ellison also improved, lapping faster than the Pramac Ducati riders Alex Hoffman and Jose Luis Cardoso. Click here for the full time sheet.

First qualifying for the 125cc GP class saw Mika Kallio take provisional pole for Red Bull KTM with 1:57.275, half a second quicker than reigning champion Thomas Luthi. Michele Conti is third quickest, and Britain’s Bradley Smith finished the session in an impressive sixth quickest. Fellow Brit Daniel Webb is 40th quickest, while young KTM rider Stefan Bradl sat out the session after crashing in practice. Click here for the full timesheet.

Morning practice

Kenny Roberts Jr has gone fastest in the first free practice session for the Catalunya GP.

Roberts posted a fastest lap of 1:42.923 to head the timesheet from Colin Edwards on the Camel Yamaha (1:43.197) and Dani Pedrosa on the Repsol Honda (1:43.234). Valentino Rossi is fourth fasest. Interestingly the highest speed at the circuit was 329.5km/h, set by Makoto Tamada who went 16th fastest. Britain’s James Ellison is 19th quickest. To see the full time sheet, click here.

Roberto Locatelli heads the 250cc GP practice for Team Toth with 1:48.014,from the Humangest duo of Yuki Takahashi (1:48.114) and Andrea Dovizioso (1:48.189). Britian’s Dan Linfoot is 25th for the Teng Tool Winona Racing squad with 1:56.158. For the full time sheet, click here.

In 125cc free practice the MVA Aspar team dominate the top five places, with Alvaro Bautista quickest (1:51.343), Hector Faubel third (1:51.832), and Sergio Gadea (1:51.947).
