Anger at Estoril switch

MotoGP fans have reacted angrily to news that the Estoril GP has been moved from October 30 to April 17. The late-in-the-day switch by organisers Dorna, is being attributed to ruling body the FIM.

The change occurred as the Rio round of the championship was dropped, and a Turkish round added at the still-to-be-completed Istanbul Autodrome.

With the changes coming so close to the start of the new season, many fans had already booked holidays to visit the foreign rounds, and are voicing their frustrations on the MotoGP message board on this site:

Meccano: “Ah well, at least I know what I’ll be doing this weekend – cancelling the hotel and ferry reservations and trying to get some money back.”

Shaunclippo: “Myself and 7 others are all booked up on a flight to Lisbon. We are gutted no race and we can’t get a refund on the flights. How can they move a confirmed date?”

Kathrin: ” I know some australians that booked their holiday so they could go to Mugello and Donington (was possible with the first calendar). Now they can only go to mugello. I was lucky that I had just put in my holiday and was able to change it still.”
