Award for Kallio

Finnish fans have shown their appreciation for MotoGP, by making 125cc KTM rider Mika Kallio the “Best Driver of the Year.”

A TV and print election saw Kallio ranked ahead of Formula 1 star Kimi Raikkonen and two-time World Rally champion Marcus Gronholm.

“Winning such an award is very flattering, it really feels great,” said Kallio. “It shows MotoGP is getting more and more popular in Finland, where there is a strong tradition of F1 and rallying. I guess the media and fans appreciated the fact that competition is always pretty close in the 125cc class and we always put on a good show.”
