Valentino Rossi has gone fastest in the second practice session for the Czech MotoGP round at Brno on Sunday, August 28, 2005.

Rossi posted a time of 1:59.278 on the final of his 21 completed laps to push the leader of the first practice session, Loris Capirossi, into second place. Capirossi posted a time of 1:59.366 during a run of 25 laps on the Ducati Desmosedici. Third quickest was Sete Gibernau on the Movistar Honda, closely followed by team-mate Marco Melandri.

Top British rider is James Ellison on the WCM in 19th place, just in front of Ruben Xaus. Jeremy McWilliams is 21st quickest on the Team Roberts Proton KR, which has been wheeled out of storage to compete after the loss of KTM as an engine supplier. McWilliams has been racing in the UK in the British Superbike series but has jumped into the team for this round as regular rider Shane Byrne was contracted by KTM rather than the Roberts team.

Britain’s Chaz Davies has qualified in 17th place on the Aprilia Germany machine with a time of 2:06.008, sandwiched between Alex Debon and Anthony West.

Loris Capirossi has gone fastest in the first practice sesson for the Czech GP on Sunday, August 28, 2005.

The Italian set a time of 1:59.626 on his Marlboro Ducati on the penultimate lap of 22 completed. In dry conditions his time was one second slower than the fastest lap of the circuit which was set by Valentino Rossi in 2003.

Second quickest was Sete Gibernau on the Movistar Honda on 1:59.808, followed by the Gauloise Yamaha of Colin Edwards and the works Honda of Nicky Hayden.

Britian’s James Ellison was 21st quickest on the WCM, just behind team-mate Franco Battaini. The team has postponed the launch of the new Blata V6 machine, which was due to be unveiled at Brno.

BSB regular Jeremy McWilliams was 22nd quickest, riding the Roberts Proton KR machine. His inclusion in the team allowed the team to compete at the race, following the loss of engine supplier KTM, and KTM-contracted rider Shane Byrne.
