Sete on provisional pole

Sete Gibernau is on provisional pole for the German MotoGP on Sunday after setting a new pole record in first qualifying on Friday afternoon (July 16).

The Honda rider’s time of 1’23.247, the fastest ever lap of the Sachsenring by a motorcycle.

Nicky Hayden, also on a Honda, was second fastest – missing pole by 0.206 seconds. The final front row position went to Valentino Rossi. And with rain forecast for tomorrow’s final qualifying, this could be the way it stays.

Makoto Tamada, who won in Rio, was11th fastest on.
