Suzuki star Hopkins breaks both ankles

Suzuki MotoGP star John Hopkins has undergone surgery following a crash in a supercross event.

American Hopkins fractured both ankles in practice for a ‘cross over’ event at San Diego on Saturday, January 24.

He went under the knife on Tuesday, January 27 and is now expected to be on crutches for up to a month.

Hopkins flew home from the Sepang MotoGP test to take part in the cross over event.
