Biaggi on pole at Pacific GP

Max Biaggi will start from pole position at the Pacific GP at Motegi on Sunday. The Italian headed the timesheets in qualifying with a new pole record of 1:47.696 with seconds left in the session.

The Italian demoted Makoto Tamada who was heading the pack at his home round. With Tamada second, Valentino Rossi had to settle for third quickest and Sete Gibernau finishes the front row.

Nick Hayden completes a top five for Honda, ahead of Ducati’s Loris Capirossi in sixth. Capirossi crashed on his first qualifying lap but recovered his composure to put the Italian machine on the second row of the grid, in front of the Yamahas of Carlos Checa and Alex Barros.
