Japanese fans of Daijiro Kato have unveiled a monument at his home track, the Autopolis circuit in the Kyusyu district of Japan.

Kato, the former 250cc World Champion, began his career at the circuit, riding for team Koutake RSC from 1993-1996, before joining Honda. Kato died earlier this year, after an accident during the Japanese GP at Suzuka. His cousin Chojin Kameya rode with Kato’s number 74 at the Suzuka Eight Hour race last weekend, teaming up with Tady Okada. Find out how they got on by following the Suzuka link on the right.
