Roberts’ test feedback inspires next XRE0

Suzuki is already working on the next generation of its XRE0 four-stroke engine based on feedback from Kenny Roberts and Sete Gibernau current winter testing at the Eastern Creek circuit in Australia.

Roberts said: “We are just gradually working through a whole lot of stuff, data gathering mainly. We are still looking to get some fundamental aspects of the bike working.”

No lap times are being made available from Eastern Creek as the circuit on the outskirts of Sydney hasn’t staged a GP since 1996 so there’s not really anything to compare against.

The opening day of the test was badly affected by rain, and instead of being a great opportunity to get in some wet weather testing on the new bike, a Dunlop container carrying all the wet tyres was delayed at Sydney Airport.

Suzuki will move down the Aussie east coast this weekend to continue testing at the Phillip Island circuit after the final day at Eastern Creek on Friday.
