Davies, 15, makes GP test debut

Chaz Davies clocked the 29th fastest time on day one of the 125cc IRTA tests at Valencia, which conclude on Tuesday.

British schoolboy Davies, 15, only completed 27 laps but managed a respectable time of 1.44.44 as he tried to get to grips with his new Aprilia bike and team.

Veteran Italian Lucio Cecchinello was quickest on day one with a best time of 1.40.79, a fraction outside of Youichi Ui’s lap record.

Ui himself, one of the title favourites on the Derbi, was seventh while reigning champion Manuel Poggiali was hardly extending himself on the Gilera, he was down in 16th.
