Reigning Bennetts British Superbike Champion Tommy Bridewell will make a wildcard appearance in the 2024 World Superbike Championship season finale at Jerez.

Bridewell, who currently leads the way again in BSB heading into the final two rounds, will head to Spain alongside his Honda Racing UK team on October 18-20. It’s Bridewell’s second WorldSBK appearance of the season having race at Cremona earlier this month.

“I love racing motorbikes so to get to go and have another go is another great opportunity to go out and race my bike,” Bridewell said. “Jerez is a really good circuit too as it’s got a bit of everything, heavy braking with a slow first sector that then starts opening up and getting quicker and quicker.

“Going to Jerez for me is about continuing the work that we are doing, gathering information and doing the best that I can. I rode well at Cremona with the package that we were on and ultimately, we will be a little bit better equipped with a slightly upgraded spec at Jerez. I want to go there and do as well as I can.”

The relationship between the BSB team and WorldSBK squad appears to be closer than ever. Japanese HRC technicians have been spotted at multiple BSB rounds this season, whilst Honda UK also tested at Cremona alongside their world championship counterparts earlier this season.

Prior to the final round of WorldSBK, Honda Racing UK will head to Jerez to participate in a two-day test on October 2-3,.

“Jerez presents another opportunity for us to compete on the world stage and follows a successful outing at Cremona, during which we were able to work closely with our HRC colleagues to further progress the Fireblade project,” Honda Racing UK Team Manager, Havier Beltran added.

“Ultimately all of our objectives were achieved and the data collected is extremely valuable. We are delighted to take the opportunity to go to Jerez and do the same once more.”

Bridewell is the third BSB rider to confirm their spot on the grid in Jerez. Title rival Kyle Ryde and his OMG Racing UK teammate Ryan Vickers will also make wildcard appearances. It will mark Vickers’ final outing with the team ahead of his move to the WorldSBK paddock with Motocorsa Racing Ducati in 2025.
