Joe Talbot will step up into the Bennetts British Superbike Championship next season after signing a two-year deal with OMG Racing.

The 20-year-old is currently second in the Pirelli National Superstock Championship, three points behind Davey Todd. Talbot will race onboard the Yamaha R1 in 2025, and will get his first taste of the superbike at a private test in December.

“I’m over the moon to be joining the OMG Racing team and be a part of the Yamaha Motor UK family,” Talbot said. “I feel honoured and can’t wait to take on the challenge of racing in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship.

“It has been a dream of mine since the start, there are a lot of great people behind me that has made this possible, and I wish to thank Alan and Paul for this opportunity. I can’t wait to get going and make my mark in the championship.”

After taking part in the Superteen series, Talbot made the move into the National Superstock class in 2020 and finished seventh overall. He also secured championship wins in No Limits Racing’s Pirelli Super Series 600 and the ACU Endurance 600 class.

The following year Talbot finished second overall in the stock 600 category, taking two wins and a total of nine podiums. Talbot ended his campaign seven points behind Jack Nixon. He also successfully defended his Pirelli Super Series 600 crown.

Talbot moved up into the Superstock 1000 class in 2022, and became a consistent frontrunner in his second campaign, finishing fourth overall. Talbot celebrated two win and a total of five podiums.

“We are really excited to announce the arrival of Joe Talbot to the OMG Racing UK family in 2025,” team owner, Alan Gardner said. “Joe has caught the eye of many in the BSB paddock with his rapid progression through Superstock 600 into 1000, and then the performances and rides he has delivered so far.

“We know he’ll be a good fit within our team for the next two years, and we’re looking forward to seeing how he progresses with the Yamaha R1 in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship.”

So far in 2024 Talbot has accumulated two wins and a total of seven podiums from 13 races and has a genuine chance of being crowned champion in October.

OMG team manager, Paul Curran added, “Joe has had a really strong season so far; he’s a title contender this year in the National Superstock Championship and impressed last year in the class too.

“We’re excited to have secured such a strong talent and know he will impress on the Yamaha R1 over the next few seasons.”
