BSB: Assen returns to the calendar as 2025 provisional dates are released

The provisional 2025 Bennetts British Superbike Championship calendar has been released and it includes a return to the iconic Assen circuit in the Netherlands.

The championship visited the Dutch circuit between 2012 and 2019, however it wasn’t included on the 2020 calendar due to the Covid-10 pandemic. Next year, Assen will host the first round of the Showdown on September 19-21.

The addition of Assen sees Navarra removed from the championship after just one season. The teams will however take part in a two-day pre-season test at the Spanish track on April 6-7.

Next year’s season begins at a slightly later date of May 3-5, with Oulton Park the destination on the Bank Holiday weekend. This is followed by a trip to Donington Park on May 16-18, whilst Snetterton has been moved forward to round three of the season on June 20-22.

Knockhill takes the slot previously held by Snetterton on July 4-6, followed by visits to Brands Hatch (July 25-26) and Thruxton (August 8-10). Party in the Park at Cadwell Park returns on the August Bank Holiday Weekend (August 23-25).

Donington Park hosts the final round of the main season on September 5-7, followed by the aforementioned return to Assen. The paddock returns to Oulton Park for the penultimate round on October 3-5, with the traditional season finale at Brands Hatch set for October 17-19.

“The opening round will start with the early May Bank Holiday weekend at Oulton Park, before a sequence of events at our traditional UK venues,” Series Director, Stuart Higgs said.

“It’s then a return to the Cathedral of Racing, Assen in the Netherlands, to start the Showdown for the first time since 2019, with the circuit in a celebratory mood in the centenary year of the Dutch TT. Return visits to Oulton Park and Brands Hatch will round up the 29th season of Bennetts BSB in the modern era.

“The full season will kick off with the now traditional Spanish testing period, with the first official track action on 6/7 April at the revitalised Navarra circuit. Fans, teams and riders were already highly impressed with the facility at this year’s opening round and with a multi-million Euro circuit reconfiguration and upgrade just completed everyone is looking forward to seeing the changes first-hand.”
