BSB: DAO Racing join forces with Honda for 2025 season

DAO Racing will use Honda power in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship next season following the end of the team’s partnership with Kawasaki.

The move will see DAO Racing race the latest Fireblade in 2025, adding yet more Hondas to the BSB grid. The Japanese giants are already represented by the official Honda Racing UK squad with Tommy Bridewell and Andrew Irwin, whilst Hawk Racing [MasterMac Honda] are expected to continue with two bikes next season.

Fraser Rogers will also remain onboard a Fireblade next season with TAG Honda, whilst CDH Racing confirmed their decision to swap Kawasaki for Honda last month. Other Honda teams who are yet to confirm their 2025 plans include Team IWR, C&L Fairburn Properties/Look Forward Racing and Rapid Honda.

“I am delighted to welcome DAO Racing into the Honda family,” Honda Racing UK Team Manager, Haiver Beltran said. “For many years, they have been great competitors and have always run an extremely professional and well-put-together team. I am excited to see what they can achieve on Honda Fireblades next year.

“The increasing number of teams choosing to use Honda machinery is a testament to the hard work and dedication that Honda has put into motorcycle racing. I look forward to sharing the racetrack with DAO Racing when the season begins in the new year.”

DAO Racing’s 2025 rider line-up has not yet been revealed, however it’s believed that it will be an all-new effort next year. Danny Buchan missed the last round at Donington with a broken foot and injured shoulder, and recently posted a picture of the Job Centre on his social media accounts.

Buchan’s best result of 2024 as things stand is seventh at Knockhill, whilst he enjoyed a positive weekend at Cadwell Park with a 10th and two 11ths onboard his Kawasaki.

On the other side of the garage Brayden Elliot has struggled in the Superbike class following his move from DAO’s Superstock team. The Aussie has just two points to his name after finishing 14th in the final race of the weekend at Oulton Park in September.

“To be racing Honda for next year means so much to me, my family and the team,” Sommai Nantakoon, DAO Racing Team Owner, added. “Honda was my first ever road bike, my family in Thailand ride Hondas, so to now be working with them to take my team to this next level of DAO Racing is very special. We are really looking forward to riding with Honda next year and know we will really be strong together.”

The final round of the 2024 BSB season takes place at Brands Hatch this weekend (October 11-13).
