Davey Todd will return to the Bennetts British Superbike Championship next season after signing for FHO Racing BMW.

Todd won the National Superstock title for the second time in three years this season whilst riding for the Cheshire Mouldings BMW team (TAS Racing). That partnership also saw Todd claim is maiden Isle of Man TT victories, secured in the Superstock race and Senior TT.

On the short circuits, Todd competed in six rounds of the 2023 BSB season after moving into the premier class with Padgetts Honda following their Superstock title success in 2022. Todd took part in the opening three and final three rounds that year, and secured a best result of 10th at Donington Park.

Todd will make his debut with the team at this weekend’s Macau Grand Prix, before entering a full short circuit and roads campaign with the team in 2025.

“I’m really excited to be joining the FHO Racing BMW Motorrad team for 2025 and also the Macau Grand Prix this year,” Todd said. “It’s a really exciting time to be moving up to the Superbike class; I don’t feel like I got fair shot at last year when I got my first races in the class, but to now have the opportunity to do it with an awesome team, not only on the on the short circuits but for the roads as well, I feel like it’s a great step for me.

“I’m just super excited joining the team, I feel like I’m already starting to build a relationship with the guys just with the first few meetings we’ve had.”

Todd will line-up against Peter Hickman next year in what can only be described as an Isle of Man TT dream team. Hickman has been with FHO for several years and has taken BSB victories and podiums in the past, however 2024 proved to be a difficult campaign.

Like all BMW riders, and Ducati riders, Hickman’s M1000 RR struggled with the harder option Pirelli rear tyre, the only tyre available in 2024, whilst the team also had to run the bike’s standard camshaft.

“I am mega happy to be staying with the FHO Racing team for another season, I’m practically part of the furniture now,” Hickman said. “We’ve not had an easy season this year with one thing and another, but the team and I have never given up despite some really challenging times. All the boys, and girls on the team work super hard but racing is racing and sometimes it doesn’t go the way we hope.

“This year, along with some others, we were really stung with some Championship rules changing, but thanks to the teams’ hard work and dedication we started to make progress towards the end of the season.

“It’s exciting to have Davey joining us next year, we’ve been rivals on the Roads now for a few years but having him in the team will be mega and I’m looking forward to working alongside him to help develop the BMW M 1000 RR package we have both in BSB and the Roads. I have to say a huge thank you to the team for all their hard work this season and of course to Faye for her continued support, hopefully next year we can have a strong season with lots to celebrate!”
