BSB: 2023 LAMI OMG Racing livery revealed ahead of two-day Silverstone test

Reigning Bennetts British Superbike Champions OMG Racing have unveiled their new-look livery ahead of the official pre-season test at Silverstone.

The “retro-inspired” livery has been designed by 2011 BSB Champion Tommy Hill, who also works closely with Kyle Ryde within the team’s pit box as rider coach and personal manager.

This year’s design incorporates new title sponsors LAMI Vapes’ logo, with a large gold logo on each side of the bike, plus a white strip with black font beneath it. The main body of the R1 is left in a carbon fibre finish, with Yamaha branding in grey, rather than blue. The team’s wheels are also gold.

The team’s official press release reads: “The brief was simple – ‘keep it clean, classy & recognisable as an OMG Racing bike.’ What Tommy came up with definitely fits the bill, and draws clear inspiration from the legendary bikes of the ‘70s & ‘80s, with the likes of LAMI OMG Racing team member Roger Marshall providing an undeniable benchmark.”

Kyle Ryde remains with the team for a third consecutive campaign and has topped both of the official tests held so far at Navarra, Spain, and Donington Park. Ryde won one race last season and secured a total of five podiums on his way to sixth overall.

Following Bradley Ray’s departure to the World Superbike Championship, Ryan Vickers joins the team after spending 2022 with FHO Racing BMW. Like Ray and Ryde, Vickers has enjoyed previous success with Yamaha – winning the Junior Superstock title onboard an R6 in 2018.

James Hillier (Pirelli National Superstock – Yamaha R1) & Aaron Daykin (Pirelli Junior National Superstock – Yamaha R6) will run the same livery in their respective campaigns, however their fairings will have a gloss finish rather than the carbon fibre seen in the Superbike class.

The final pre-season test takes place at Silverstone on March 28-29, before the Northamptonshire circuit hosts round one of the 2023 season on April 7-9.
