BSB: Danny Buchan stays with SYNETIQ BMW for 2023 season

Danny Buchan will remain a SYNETIQ BMW rider in 2023, marking his third consecutive Bennetts British Superbike Championship season with the TAS Racing squad.

Onboard the M1000 RR, Buchan won twice and finished third at Cadwell Park, whilst he also ended his year on the podium with a second and a third at Brands Hatch. His 2022 podium and win return matched his 2021 performances.

Buchan recorded 12 top six finishes in 2022, however, Buchan, like all BMW riders, missed out on a spot in the Showdown. An incident which saw Buchan taken out by Ryan Vickers at Snetterton ended his hopes of qualifying – just one round after putting himself in contention with his double win at Cadwell.

“I’m over the moon to continue with TAS Racing on the SYNETIQ BMW for 2023,” Buchan said. “If you look at the steps, we made this season from the midway point through to the end, it was positive progression.

“Wins at Cadwell Park yes, that was a superb weekend for everyone involved, but two podiums at Brands – which is possibly my weakest circuit on the calendar – just proves the strength and ongoing development of the TAS prepared M 1000 RR package. That’s a massive credit to the team.”

The team will get their hands on the new M1000 RR model for next season as they look to not only edge closer to the BSB title fight, but end their campaign as the top BMW team in the Riders’ Championship.

Team Principal, Philip Neill added: “After two strong seasons together, whilst developing the SYNETIQ BMW M 1000 RR, we are really looking forward to a third year with Danny. We have shown we can win races together and the aim will be to build on that and challenge for the championship in 2023.”

It’s not yet known who will partner Buchan at SYNETIQ BMW. Former teammate Andrew Irwin has re-joined Honda Racing UK for the 2023 season.
