BSB: Billy McConnell joins C&L Fairburn Properties Jackson Racing Honda

Billy McConnell will remain in the Pirelli National Superstock Championship this season after signing for the new C&L Fairburn Properties Jackson Racing Honda team.

McConnell departs the Rich Energy OMG Racing BMW squad, but will still compete with personal sponsorship from the BSB team and the energy drink manufacturer – including branding on his helmet and leathers.

McConnell came close to winning the Superstock title in 2021, finishing five points behind champion Tom Neave. McConnell won one race, and secured a further eight podiums onboard his BMW M1000 RR. He now switches to Honda power for 2022.

“It was an unusual winter but we’re now ready to race,” McConnell said. “We couldn’t have put this project together without Chris Fairburn and all of my loyal sponsors along with the continued personal support from both RICH OMG and OMG Racing.

“We’ve got work to do but I’m more motivated than ever to repay the faith and hard work that my incredible sponsors have shown me in putting this whole effort together.”

The new team has been formed by long-term sponsor Chris Fairburn in partnership with the experienced Jackson Racing team. The team will run a Honda Fireblade CBR1000RR-R for the season, taking advantage of the Honda Racing National Superstock initiatives devised by Havier Beltran and the Louth-based team.

“It was an unexpected way to end the winter for us and a lot of hard work has gone into this project, and we’re really excited to see the fruits of our labours,” Fairburn added. “Billy is a class act as everyone knows and we’re looking forward to seeing what he can do on a new bike, carrying with him the same goals and values he’s always had.”
