BSB: Ray: 'The key is not doing anything stupid!'

Bradley Ray has said ‘not doing anything stupid’ will be the key to ensuring he keeps hold of his spot in the all-important Bennetts British Superbike Showdown during this weekend’s triple header at Silverstone.

A tough mid-season saw Ray begin to drop down the order to fifth in the standings, but a Cadwell Park resurgence has given him a decent buffer to Peter Hickman and Danny Buchan who are fighting for the final Showdown spot.

However, while his Cadwell podiums give him a buffer he isn’t secure yet – meaning Saturday’s opening race will be vital for the young gun.

“I’d like to try and get enough points on the riders behind in race one to secure myself in the Showdown early and then focus on podium points for the rest of the weekend,” Ray told MCN.

“The key is going to be not to do anything stupid, if we can play it safe on Saturday to take the points and then go all out for podium credits on Sunday I’ll be happy.

“To be in the Showdown would be unbelievable; to be going into the final three rounds in contention for the title in only my second year in the championship at 21-years-old would be great!”
