BSB: Haslam 'confident in both wet and dry'

Leon Haslam has said he feels confident in both wet and dry conditions as the Bennetts British Superbike Showdown got underway at Oulton Park.

The JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider was second quickest in this morning’s dry opening session, just 0.381 seconds behind quickest man on track Jake Dixon and despite only placing eighth-fastest in this afternoon’s rain, the series leader is confident about his pace in wet conditions.

“It was a good day, I felt pretty comfortable in both conditions,” he said. “We had a few little issues as we came here with our Silverstone set-up rather than the set-up we ran here back in May, we’ve found we’ve reverted back a bit to where we were in May.

“I felt good in the wet, I think I was one of the quickest when it was really wet and when it started to dry up in the end I didn’t get a clear lap but I think my ideal was nearly a second faster than what I actually did which would have put me P2. I didn’t want to push too hard, but we wanted to know where the bike is in the wet in case the weather turns on Sunday.”
