BSB: Best result yet for rookie Irwin

Andrew Irwin enjoyed his strongest points haul of his BSB career after a strong weekend at Oulton Park.

The Be Wiser Ducati rider, who is trying to secure a seat for 2019, finished an impressive fourth in the wet opening race and completed the top ten in the second.

“I knew I had to finish both races this weekend as it’s important for me to show a bit of consistency as I’m trying to get a job for next year,” he told MCN.

“To end up with our best weekend yet and a fourth place in race two, I’m really happy. It’s the first time I have been able to run a similar pace to the leaders since I jumped on the Superbike so it shows the progress we are making. In the second race I was a bit stiff, I didn’t really get into a rhythm until the end, but my goal was to finish both races and we achieved that!”
