BSB: Another strong weekend for Mackenzie

Bennetts BSB rookie Tarran Mackenzie continued to show his potential with another strong ride at Oulton Park this weekend.

The technical Cheshire track had proved a bit of a challenge for the pint-sized Supersport champion back in May as he was still learning to ride the 200+bhp beast that is his McAMS Yamaha R1, but he demonstrated just how far he’s come with another top five result.

“At the start of the year, I struggled a bit here,” he said. “It was a hard track to learn to ride a superbike on, but coming back we’ve improved the bike a lot and I’ve got a bit more experience so it shows we are heading in the right direction.

“I was happy with seventh in race one as I’ve not spent much time on the bike in the wet and I felt I could have got a podium in race two, but I had a massive moment and chose to rein it in a bit as I’d rather be fourth than on the floor. It’s been a pretty good result and it sets us up well for Assen and Brands. I’d love to return to the podium before the year is out and I think we’ve got a pretty good chance.”
