BSB: O'Halloran breaks ankle in World Superbike wildcard

Jason O’Halloran’s dream World Superbike wildcard came to an early end at Imola this weekend after a crash in the opening race left him with a broken ankle.

The Aussie was called up to replace the injured Leon Camier after he withdrew from the weekend after FP2 as he continues to recover from the injuries sustained in his Aragon crash last month.

After just two practice sessions, O’Halloran out-qualified team-mate Jake Gagne and started Saturday’s opening race 18th, but it would be short-lived for the BSB star as he highsided out in the early stages of the race.

Unfortunately, the bike landed on his leg, fracturing his right ankle in two places.

“I’m OK, more frustrated than anything else!” O’Halloran told MCN. “I’m hoping to be back in the UK later this week and from then I can crack on with rehab, get some physio and get in the hyperbaric chamber. Luckily we’ve got five weeks before Snetterton so hopefully we’ll be good to go by then.”
