BSB: 'Gutted' Linfoot ruled out for next month

Dan Linfoot has said he is ‘gutted’ to be missing the next two Bennetts British Superbike events after fracturing his wrist in a crash at Brands Hatch this weekend.

The Yorkshireman was thought to have fractured his left scaphoid after the first race crash, but the amount of swelling made it difficult to diagnose the severity of the break.

Further scans on Monday confirmed the break with the Honda Racing BSB squad announcing he is set to miss both the Thruxton and Cadwell rounds.

“I’ve had some appointments and got some information now and unfortunately we’ve had confirmation that my left scaphoid is fractured,” Linfoot told MCN.

“I’ve got an appointment with a specialist in Harrogate this afternoon and once I’ve had that we will know a bit more about timescale, but for now the plan is to miss both Thruxton and Cadwell. Of course, if it is possible to reduce the timescale and get back sooner I’d be pleased to do so but at this time it’s just a case of taking the right steps.

“I’m gutted to miss out on even more points in BSB, it’s not been the best season for us with the neck injury and now this. I’m also really upset to be missing this weekend’s Suzuka Eight Hour. I’ve done lots of testing both this year and last but not actually been able to race it yet!”

The Honda Racing squad have said they are considering replacement options for the next two rounds.
