BSB: Dixon: 'I had to bite the screen!'

Jake Dixon has admitted he had to ‘bite the screen’ to bag a front row start for tomorrow’s opening Bennetts British Superbike race at Brands Hatch.

The RAF Regular and Reserve Kawasaki rider has been there or thereabouts throughout the Brands Hatch weekend, but felt he was on the limit in qualifying.

However, sitting fifth with just minutes to go he got his head down and pushed on to secure a front row start by just 0.001 seconds, knocking rookie Tarran Mackenzie off the front row.

Remaining realistic ahead of tomorrow’s two races, the young gun says he’ll be happy to extend his run of six successive rostrum finishes.

“I saw my board and I was in fifth and that worried me as I was already on the limit, but I just had to bite the screen, man up and get on with it!” Dixon said. “I’d say we struggled a little bit, but no excuses as these boys did great.”

“I feel I did a good job to get on the front row. We’ve done our work through practice and I know where I’m at with race pace and I think it’s pretty strong so if we can come away with another couple of podiums I’ll be happy.”
