BSB: Buchan demoted to third after yellow flag pass

Danny Buchan has been demoted to third place after overtaking under yellow flags during the opening Bennetts British Superbike race.

The JG Speedfit Kawasaki team visited race direction after this afternoon’s first race, which was won by Jake Dixon with Danny Buchan second ahead of Leon Haslam, to complain that Buchan passed Haslam between turns two and three while yellow flags were out for an incident involving Gearlink Kawasaki rider Fraser Rogers.

Both Haslam and Buchan, along with their respective team managers, were present for a discussion with race director Stuart Higgs which lasted around 15 minutes.

Race direction viewed footage from various angles and speeds, following this a decision was taken that Buchan was in the wrong and was therefore relegated to third position with Haslam promoted to second.

The investigation is unrelated to claims that Buchan passed Haslam under yellow flags at the hairpin following Chrissy Rouse’s crash – the FS3 rider was cleared of any wrongdoing in this incident as Haslam went wide, Buchan stuck to the apex and slipped by on exit where green flags were displayed.
