Dan Linfoot will miss the remainder of the second round of the 2018 Bennetts British Superbike Championship after an accident in this afternoon’s second free practice session.

The Honda Racing rider came off on entry to Graham Hill while sitting second in FP2, hitting the ground hard as he fell.

After receiving immediate medical attention trackside, Linfoot was taken to the medical centre before being transferred to the Princess Royal University Hospital for further scans, which revealed a fracture to the bottom of his neck, C6 vertebra.

While a statement from the team said there was no immediate concern, he is remaining in hospital overnight for further assessment.

“Unfortunately, Dan has sustained a small fracture to the base of his neck,” the team revealed. “Although there is no immediate threat or concern, he will be kept in overnight to be assessed further. He would like to express his thanks to the MSV and Brands Hatch staff for their quick response trackside.”

The incident comes after a strong start to the year for Linfoot, who currently sits third in the championship after a third and fourth place finish at Donington two weeks ago.
