BSB: Brookes 'not stressed' despite challenging start

Josh Brookes remains pragmatic despite a tough start to the 2018 Bennetts British Superbike Championship with the McAMS Yamaha team.

The Aussie suffered his worse BSB points haul since a double DNF at Assen in 2014 as he made his debut with the factory-backed Yamaha squad after suffering with tyre issues in the opening race while a poor starting position hampered his progress in the second outing.

However, despite starting the season a title favourite, Brookes insists he isn’t stressed or worried after such a challenging start to the year.

“Sure, it’s not the result I wanted but at no point am I starting to panic, get stressed, worried or nervous,” Brookes told MCN. “I’m just using a logical head. I’m encouraging everyone in the team to keep their heads high and stay upbeat, it’s the first round of the year and there are a lot of people walking away from here with a bigger crash damage bill than us and some with injuries.”
