BSB: Mossey to sit out of second race

1 of 1

Luke Mossey will sit out of this afternoon’s second MCE British Superbike race at Oulton Park as he continues to be hampered by his earlier season injuries.

The JG Speedfit Kawasaki star broke his back in four places at Thruxton last month and although he heroically returned at Silverstone last week, a high-side in treacherous conditions left him concerned about further aggrevating the injury.

Playing it safe, Mossey sat out of a number of sessions in sketchy conditions this weekend and pulled in in the early stages of the opening race and has now opted to sit out of race two with the plan to be back out in force at Assen in two weeks’ time.

“I’m just a bit worried about crashing in these conditions and making my back worse when I’ve got nothing to lose,” said Mossey, who narrowly missed out on a spot in the title fighters’ showdown after missing four races due to the injury.

“I want to be winning races before the end of the year and I’ll be nearing full fitness for Assen and Brands so we don’t want to compromise our chances with a silly crash or being taken out here.”
