BSB: Hickman: 'BSB is never easy!'

1 of 1

Peter Hickman will be looking to impress this weekend at Oulton Park as he heads in to the 2017 MCE British Superbike Championship Showdown as a title fighter for the first time.

Hickman may have only clinched three rostrums so far in 2017, but his consistency – which saw him finish every race with a worst result of ninth in the first part of the year until a crash in Sunday’s treacherous conditions at Silverstone – helped him clinch a Showdown position.

Sitting 29 points off series leader Shane Byrne, the title might be a long shot for Hickman but a proven race winner, he’s sure to be in the mix.

“I’m thrilled to make it into the showdown for the first time, we’ve been close before but never quite got there,” Hickman said. “It’s been a strong year for us, until this weekend I haven’t crashed once so that shows something.

“We’ve won a race and been quick at most tracks so I’m looking forward to the final three rounds to see whether we can take it to these boys. BSB is never easy but this year it’s been harder than ever so to have got this far is an achievement. People have started to take me seriously in recent rounds so I’m looking forward to showing what we can do in the last three.”
