BSB: Christian Iddon remains with Tyco BMW for 2018

Christian Iddon will remain with the Tyco BMW team for a third consecutive season in 2018, it has been confirmed.

The Stockport rider becomes the fifth name confirmed on the grid for 2018, joining Shane Byrne and Glenn Irwin, Leon Haslam and Luke Mossey and RAF Reserve Kawasaki’s Jake Dixon.

Iddon has shown promise on the Tyco BMW in the last two seasons, often bothering the podium and occasionally pushing for the win, but missed out on the Showdown in both years with the Northern Irish squad.

However, both Iddon and the team feel they can get more out of one another so have decided to give it another go in 2018 as they look to secure the team’s debut British title.

“We might not have got into the Showdown this year but we did miss two rounds and still only just got pipped in the final race at Silverstone, so in all it’s been a good year,” Iddon told MCN.

“The team give me 100% and I give them 100% so we both feel there’s more to come from the package so it’d be silly to throw that away. Sometimes in this game consistency is key so to be going into a third year with the same team is important to me.

“We have nowhere near reached our potential in the last two years, so next year is time for us to show what we’ve got.”
