BSB: Byrne out to right wrongs at Silverstone

1 of 1

Shane Byrne is looking to make amends for the points lost in recent rounds as the MCE British Superbike Championship resumes at Silverstone this weekend.

The Northamptonshire circuit plays host to a triple header weekend ahead of the 2017 title fighters’ Showdown which gets underway at Oulton Park next week.

Byrne currently sits atop of the championship standings, but lost vital podium credits to his rivals at both Thruxton and Cadwell with technical issues ruling him out of two races.

However, while he’s keen to build as many points as possible, as the only rider secure in the all-important Showdown six, he’s keen not to make any mistakes that could hamper the final three rounds.

“Silverstone is an event I am really looking forward to because if I am honest I left Cadwell Park a bit angry and frustrated about the last two rounds and how many potential podium points we have given away to our rivals. That is a bitter pill to swallow,” he said.

“With three races at Silverstone we have an opportunity to get some back and so we need to work as hard as possible to make that happen. However we need to remember that the Showdown starts just a few days later.

“I have spent the time since the last round in Spain and I really feel fired up and ready to go because I want to put right the wrongs of the previous races at Silverstone.”
