BSB: Mossey to miss Cadwell after Thruxton crash

1 of 1

Luke Mossey will miss this weekend’s Cadwell Park round of the MCE British Superbike Championship after his heavy free practice fall at Thruxton.

The JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider was catapulted from his machine after clipping the grass on the exit of the final turn, he was thrown into the air and became tangled with his machine upon landing in the third and final free practice session at the Hampshire circuit.

Sustaining a fracture to his L2 vertebrae, Mossey has been undergoing extensive rehabilitation over the past two weeks in the hope to be fit for Cadwell but after consulting with medics has made the call to sit out this weekend’s action in order to be fully fit for the Showdown decider at Silverstone in three weeks’ time.

“I’m gutted to be missing Cadwell, but it’s just too soon,” Mossey told MCN. “Ultimately my health is more important at this point so we’ll take the next three weeks to ensure that I’m 100% fit for the three races at Silverstone and make sure we can continue fighting for the title.”

Mossey currently sits fourth in the title chase, but with less than ten points advantage over Brookes and O’Halloran, a strong Silverstone will be vital to staying in the fight.
