BSB: Dixon: 'I can fight for the title'

Jake Dixon says he believes he can win the 2017 MCE British Superbike Championship if he can bag a spot in the all-important Showdown six this weekend.

The RAF Regular and Reserves Kawasaki rider currently sits seventh in the championship standings, just five points off a spot in the top six ahead of this weekend’s cut-off point.

With three races at Silverstone, all is to play for and after showing a strong pace at Cadwell last time out, Dixon has to be one of the favourites to secure a showdown spot.

“I’m feeling really confident ahead of Silverstone,” he told MCN. “Cadwell was really good for us and without the crash in race two we would be in the Showdown now so going off our pace at the last few rounds, we should at least be in with a shout.

“I’ve just spent the weekend racing at Silverstone in the Moto2 so I’ve had a bit of track time and a good weekend there was great for a confidence boost.

“The RAF Kawasaki has been working really well this year and I still feel we can fight for the championship with the other guys, they aren’t very far ahead on podium credits so if we can get into the Showdown then it’s all to play for.”
