BSB: Giugliano unfit for FP3, could return for racing

Davide Giugliano will not return to the track for the third practice session for the second round of the MCE British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch.

The former WSB rider crashed out heavily at Graham Hill bend in yesterday’s opening practice session. While he was initially up and walking, he was taken to the medical centre for assessment and it was decided he’d sit out of the second practice session in order to recover from a stiff neck sustained in the incident.

He has been reassessed ahead of FP3 and ruled unfit to participate in the session at this time, however he hasn’t been ruled out of the remainder of the weekend and could return to the track upon further re-assessment.

Having already qualified for the race with his FP1 time, he doesn’t need to take part in qualifying to start tomorrow’s two races providing he is passed fit by the medical team.

“Davide has been ruled unfit for FP3, but even if he does not take part in this afternoon’s qualifying session, given his time set in free practice he could be declared fit before tomorrow’s race,” confirmed Race Director Stuart Higgs.

“He can re-present himself at the medical centre for further assessment at any time.”
