BSB: Tough weekend for Mossey at Donington

1 of 1

Luke Mossey was unable to repeat his Oulton podium form at Donington Park this weekend as a number of issues held him back as the Showdown got underway.

The new Dad secured a spot in the top six title fight with a strong second place at the Cheshire circuit, but brake issues in the opening race saw him forced to retire before struggling to fight through the pack on the hard Pirelli rear tyre in the second outing.

“I had a bad start and as I was on the SC1, the harder compound tyre, it was hard to keep in the running,” he said. “I knew I just needed to settle down and work hard. I got past Laverty and then went to brake. I pulled the lever back but there was nothing there, I had no brakes but luckily there is run off at Donington and I didn’t crash out. I was forced to pull into the pit lane and retire from the race,

“I dropped a long way back on the grid for race two and certainly knew that I would have my work cut out, especially running the SC1 – they become stronger towards the end of the race as the softer tyres start to go off. I pushed hard but I wasn’t happy with the result I achieved. It wasn’t a good weekend at the office as far as the races and results are concerned.”
