BSB: Linfoot hoping to be in the mix on Fireblade's final outing

While the battle for the 2016 MCE British Superbike title between Leon Haslam and Shane Byrne rages on at the front ahead of the final round at Brands Hatch, the fight for third is also heating up.

Dan Linfoot currently holds final step on the series podium but with James Ellison and Linfoot’s Honda Racing team mate less than ten points behind, it’s all to play for over the final three races of the season.

On top of that, this weekend’s trio of races at Brands Hatch mark the CBR1000RR Fireblade’s final outing in its BSB guise with Honda having just announced they’ll roll out an entirely new model for next year.

Wanting to give the Fireblade a fond farewell, Linfoot is determined to get back in the mix this weekend.

“At Assen I was happy with our pace and our ability to fight in the front group, leaving with two fourths is OK, but I of course would have liked to grab a podium or two!” he said.  “But the results were a good chunk of points and keep us third in the championship heading to Brands. I know Jason’s target is to finish the year in third too, along with James, so there’s some pressure on me to make sure we have three solid races and I can finish the year third. We have three important races to finish the job now and I’m sure Leon and Shakey will be on it, so it will be good to be in the middle of that. At this time of year the weather can be tricky, so we just have to be on our toes. I’m looking forward to the weekend, giving it my all and hopefully doing our Fireblade some service and finishing off the year in style.”
