BSB: Haslam keen to bounce back at Thruxton

Leon Haslam is looking to get his MCE British Superbike season back on track at Thruxton this weekend after a tough time out at Snetterton.

With his rival Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne enjoying an almost perfect weekend at the Norfolk track, Haslam is determined to bounce back this time out to ensure he remains hot on the Ducati man’s heels.

Having struggled with tyre life at Snetterton, Haslam and the JG Speedfit Kawasaki team will spend as much time as possible in Friday and Saturday’s practice sessions finding a set up good for preserving tyres at the notoriously abrasive 2.3 mile circuit, where Haslam has never won before.

“Thruxton is another circuit where I’ve never won at and I’m looking forward to heading back this weekend to see if we can change that,” he said. “It was a tough round at Snetterton, so our aim is to immediately bounce back and get on the podium. It won’t be an easy task, tyre life is crucial at Thruxton and it’s always really close racing so I think we’re in for two great races.

“Because of the nature of the track, we’ll be using every session to dial in the bike and get a good understanding of tyre life. We’re yet to get a fully dry weekend this year so now the summer months are here hopefully this weekend will see that change and we’ll be able to work through everything we need to so we’re in the best possible position on Sunday!”
