BSB: Hickman looking to regain ground on top six at Brands

Peter Hickman will be looking to bounce back from a tough round at Thruxton as the MCE British Superbike Championship resumes at Brands Hatch this weekend to push himself further towards a showdown spot.

Currently tenth in the championship chase, just 13 points off the all-important top six, Hickman will be giving it his all over the next three rounds for his chance to become a British Superbike title fighter for the first time.

Confident the issues his JG Speedfit Kawasaki team have been having were exacerbated by the unique Thruxton circuit, Hickman has his eyes set on two top three finishes this weekend.

“Obviously Thruxton turned out to be a really disappointing round for all of us, but the team has been flat out since then to get on top of the problems and get us back to the sharp end,” he said. “The bike hasn’t been bad at all, it was just the quirkiness of Thruxton seemed to exaggerate some of the problems.

“The aim for us is to get in the showdown and to do that we need to at least be in the top six results wise, but realistically I’m looking for the podium as that’s where I believe the team should be, the bike should be and I should be.

“We’re not out of it yet as there’s not a lot in it, I’m only 13 points off a top six spot so it’s going to be an interesting few rounds as there’s a group of five or six riders in a similar sort of position. Everyone will be sh*tting themselves about getting a spot in the top six so it should make for a close few rounds.

“I’ve had good results at Brands before and was on the podium at Cadwell last year, so it’s not over yet!”
