Danny Buchan to finish 2015 at PBM Kawasaki

Reigning National Superstock 1000 champion Danny Buchan has been thrown a lifeline by Paul Bird’s PBM Kawasaki team, with the Essex rider set to join them for the remainder of 2015.

Buchan was left without a ride earlier this week after the collapse of his Be Wiser Kawasaki team, but with Stuart Easton still struggling with his fitness after a series of punishing crashes this season, Buchan will now join reigning MCE British Superbike champion Shane Byrne for the final two races of the season.

“I was going to run my own bike – my dad was willing to do just about anything, along with my personal sponsors, to keep me on the grid. But when this came up, it was an excellent position for me – it’s a championship-winning bike, and I can’t wait to get going on it.

“It’s going to be a hard weekend, turning up with a new bike, a new team, and a new crew. We’ll do as much as possible to get it as close as possible to my old bike, but deep down I’ll be happy with two top tens. Hopefully that’ll leave me battling for the podium again at the last round!

It’s sad how my own team ended, and I can’t thank them and my crew enough for the opportunity they gave me. It’s a shame it ended how it did, but I’m glad to have given them two podiums this season.”

His former teammate at the Be Wiser squad, championship veteran Chris Walker, is still to find an opportunity to return, however, and looks set to miss Silverstone. However, Walker has been adamant that 2015 would not be his final year in BSB, and is expected to be back on the grid either at Brands Hatch or for the first round of 2016.
