Supersport title favourite Gowland breaks leg

British Supersport title favourite Graeme Gowland has broken his leg in a testing crash at Spain, potentially jeopardising the Northumberland rider’s best chance to lift the supersport crown.

Gowland was testing alongside teammates Billy McConnell, Jake Dixon and Dave Johnson at Spain’s Guadix circuit, as part of the team’s pre-season preparations. He broke his femur in the process, undergoing surgery this morning to fix the break.

With last year’s winner McConnell graduating to MCE BSB with the squad and runner-up Alastair Seeley moving to Superstock 1000, Gowland was the clear favourite for the title. However, with the Gearlink Kawasaki duo of Glenn Irwin and the returning Ben Wilson not far off his heels, he will now be in a race to full fitness in order to remain a contender.
