Joe Burns’ 2015 MCE British Superbike plans have been salvaged at the eleventh hour by Gearlink Kawasaki, with the 22 year old set to join the team on the Kawasaki ZX-10R that Ben Wilson rode in the series in 2014.

Burns had already secured a ride for the season, setting up his own team with backing from housing developers In House Developments. However, reneging on their sponsorship contract, he was left scrabbling to find a ride.

The National Superstock 1000 frontrunners will now join the Lincolnshire Green Machine of Gearlink, teaming up with Wilson, who returns to the British Supersport series alongside Northern Irishman Glenn Irwin.

Speaking after the last minute deal was signed this week, team prinicipal Michael de Bidaph commented: “Having been in talks with various riders over the past couple of months, with no advancement, I approached Joe earlier this week and after a meeting I am delighted to have signed Joe to ride the Gearlink Kawasaki ZX-10R Superbike for the BSB 2015 season. I feel that Joe’s approach and commitment to his racing will fit in with the Gearlink Kawasaki team’s ethos.”

A relieved Joe Burns added: “I’m elated to have signed for the Gearlink Kawasaki squad; I have known Michael, Norma and some of the other members of the team for many years now. I have always been impressed by the outfit they run. I believe the package is as strong as that of any other teams and I can’t wait to get working on the track.”
