Byrne on pole as Brookes blows

Shane Byrne has taken pole position ahead of this afternoon’s opening race of the MCE British Superbike triple-header weekend at Oulton Park form Tommy Bridewell and James Ellison, blitzing the lap record by over half a second in his dominant performance.
Well back on the road to success after a long mid-season period in the doldrums, Byrne, noticeably happier and more confident on and off the bike, is attributing his weekend’s successes to a completely rebuilt PBM Kawasaki.
However, it was a disastrous session for his title rival Josh Brookes, after a knocking from his Milwaukee Yamaha on the opening lap of Q1 left the team changing engines and the Aussie sitting out the entire session – and subsequently starting from thirtieth on the grid.
