National Superstock 600 riders James Puttrell and Jordy de Jonge remain in a serious condition following a crash on the opening lap of yesterday’s race at Brands Hatch.

The two riders were involved in the multiple bike crash and were treated for severe injuries at the scene. Initial assessment of James Puttrell determined serious head, chest and limb injuries. Jordy de Jonge has suffered a serious head injury.

After being stabilised and receiving the usual excellent standard of care from the trackside medics, James was taken by Kent Air Ambulance to St George’s Hospital Tooting and Jordy by HEMS Air Ambulance to The Royal London Hospital, where they remain in a serious condition.

Speaking after yesterday’s racing, BSB race director Stuart Higgs said: “At this stage it’s obviously a concerning time, but riders have received the best possible care, and we wish them both good luck for a full recovery.”
