Kiyonari frustrated despite BMW progress

Ryuichi Kiyonari has left Snetterton frustrated with his results, despite finishing fourth and fifth on the Buildbase BMW and showing he is a contender for a Showdown spot come the final three rounds of the 2014 MCE British Superbike season.

“It was a good day but not a great result again. We’re making improvements every day, but I’m frustrated, because I know I’m capable of wins and podiums. I make mistakes, or we have a problem, and it means I can’t do that.”

“Beating my bike from last year [with Julien Da Costa onboard] was important, but I’m still very disappointed. The team are working hard and the bike is working well, and it’s always my mistakes that are costing us.”

However, there was one ray of hope for the former champion, having identified part of the problem that he believes kept him from the podium at the weekend.

“At Snetterton, it was colder than we anticipated on race day, and my set up wasn’t so good for that – I prefer hot weather, it suits me and my riding style. But now I have ridden the BMW in this kind of conditions, so we’ll know how to make the most of it. At the next round at Knockhill, it’ll be more cold for sure, so it might be a good thing for us!”
