Reid joins FFX Yamaha in Stock 600s

Northern Irishman Andy Reid will be joining Ian Hutchinson in the new FFX Yamaha team for 2014, after an impressive year for the Belfast teenager on a 125GP machine sees the team extend a Superstock 600 deal to him.

Making a comeback in 2013 to the sport after a testing crash resulted in a broken femur that sidelined Reid for almost two seasons, he bounced back this year to take three wins in the 125 class.

Struggling financially as well, the Northern Irishman impressed enough to gain sponsorship from Milwaukee for the final round of the championship, a relationship Ekerold says the team were keen to extend for 2014.

“Andy has come off some pretty impressive results in the Monster Motostar class last year, and he’s quite a big lad for a little bike, so hopefully he’ll adapt well to a 600 bike. We’ve got some big expectations for him; we think he can go well. I’d like to think we can be real championship contenders with Andy in that class.”
