Byrne tops BSB Assen test

Shane Byrne has topped a one day test at the legendary TT Circuit Assen, with six of the Showdown contenders jetting in for the eventahead of next month’s race at the circuit in the north of the Netherlands.
 
With only Byrne and Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki teammate Stuart Easton, the Milwaukee Yamaha pair of Josh Brookes and Tommy Bridewell, and GBmoto Kawasaki rider Chris Walker and Quattro Plant Kawasaki’s Dan Linfoot in attendance, the title fighters – minus an absent Ryuichi Kiyonari,recovering from his weekend’s off at Cadwell – had little bother with traffic.
 
After the test Byrne said: “Today was the sort of day that we as Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki have needed for a while now and we have boxed-off the majority of our preparations ahead of the Showdown.  We will still have a few pieces to try going forward and if I get another chance toenjoy a day of riding as much as I have done today then I will be a happy boy!”
 
“The sizeable changes that we did make weren’t the sort of thing you could just bolt in and expect to go quicker, so we have gainedvaluable experience that we hopefully can put to good use over the coming rounds.”
