Brands Hatch BSB: Second superbike race cancelled

1 of 1

The second superbike race of the 2012 BSB season opener at Brands Hatch has been cancelled after fuel was spilled during the British Supersport race.

Pauli Pekkanen crashed during the second supersport race of the weekend at the final corner and re-mounted, not knowing his bike was leaking fuel. The race was red-flagged and the team at Brands Hatch cleaned up the fuel on the track.

The Supersport race was restarted, but several riders fell on the first lap, blaming the condition of the track.

BSB riders were then given an eight minute practice session to test the conditions of the track, and they gave a unanimous decision that it was not safe to race.

The race will be re-scheduled to run at another round later in the year.
