Brookes escapes serious injury in Darley Moor crash
HM Plant Honda’s Josh Brookes has crashed today (Thursday) during testing at Darley Moor but has sustained no serious injury and vows to fight on at Snetterton next weekend (16/17/18 July).
Brookes high-sided whilst testing at the circuit alongside John McGuinness as the team worked on a new engine specification which they are aiming to run at the Silverstone WSB round.
Speaking after the crash Brookes said: “I just had a big high-side and flew quite high in the air and came down quite heavily on the base of my back in almost a seated position and then I got slapped around a bit. To start with we thought I might have broken something but since then I have had some x-rays and it is not showing any breaks.
“The hand is starting to feel better and I can squeeze it again now, which I couldn’t do initially so that is a good sign.
“When I took the boot off to start with I had some real sharp pain in my foot but the x-rays show nothing is broken so maybe I just need to man up a bit! I just hurt all over right now and feel pretty rubbish but you have to expect that when you crash at that speed.”
